Water Quality

Public Water Supply Program:

The Environmental Health Department of Population Health Unit is responsible for the regulation of public water supplies within the Mamawetan Churchill River and Keewatin Yatthe Health Regions (under Saskatchewan Health Authority), as well as within Athabasca Health Authority. Public health inspectors enforce The Health Hazard Regulations to ensure public water supplies are safe for human consumption.

This is done through routine inspections, education, and monitoring of these public water supplies to ensure they are safe and potable for public use.  Municipal water systems (systems with 15 or more service connections, or design flow exceeding 18m3 in a 2 hour period) are regulated by the Water Security Agency https://www.wsask.ca/.

If you own or operate a public facility, safe and potable drinking water is a requirement.
